What is a preorder?
Preordering allows you to reserve your ONTO from an upcoming production batch before it’s available in stock.
Is there a trial period?
Yes. Every order includes a 60-night trial. Returns are accepted within 60 days of delivery — if it's not right, we'll make it right.
When will my order ship?
Preorders ship in limited batches starting August 10, 2026. Once shipped, U.S. orders arrive within 3–7 business days with tracking included. Note: production is small-batch, with a limit of 3 per order.

The Foundation
What is The Foundation?
The Foundation is a minimalist, low-profile bed base — a modern take on the Japanese sleep system. It replaces bulky frames with a clean platform that lifts your bed just enough to create hidden storage underneath, making your room feel more open and uncluttered.
What is it made of?
Three materials chosen to be lightweight but strong: sustainably-sourced white oak veneer, birch plywood with an engineered lightweight core (TSCA Title VI certified for extremely low adhesive emissions), and a honeycomb core that keeps the panels light without sacrificing strength. Because it's real wood, you may see natural variation in color and grain.
Where is it made?
The Foundation is made in the USA
Can I use it with my mattress, or do I need a Japanese futon?
Both work. The Foundation is designed to pair with a standard mattress or a Japanese futon.
Do I need a box spring?
No. The Foundation is the base — just place your mattress or futon directly on top.
How much space is under it?
The Foundation has 3.5" of clearance underneath — enough to unlock usable storage without adding bulk or height to the room.

What is ONTO Japanese Futon?
ONTO is a modern floor sleep system designed as an alternative to traditional mattresses. It uses an engineered air core instead of foam to provide stable support, airflow, and long-term durability.
Is it comfortable to sleep on the floor?
Yes — but it feels different than a soft mattress. ONTO is designed to be naturally firm and supportive, helping keep your body aligned while reducing pressure points through its layered system.
Is it too firm?
ONTO is intentionally firmer than most mattresses. If you’re used to very soft beds, there may be a short adjustment period, but many people find the support improves sleep quality over time.
Who is it best for?
ONTO is ideal for people who prefer a firmer, cooler sleep and a more minimal living space. It works well for back and stomach sleepers, and anyone looking to simplify their environment.
Can I use it on a bed frame?
Yes, but ONTO is designed for the floor. Using it on a flat, supportive surface will give you the intended feel and performance.
Does it fold?
Yes. ONTO is designed to fold for easy storage, allowing you to open up your space during the day.

Why are you doing preorders?
We produce ONTO in limited batches to maintain quality and reduce excess inventory. Preorders help us plan production more precisely and offer early customers better pricing
When will my order ship?
Preorder timelines are listed on the product page. Current orders are expected to ship in August 10th.
Do I get anything for preordering?
Yes. Preorder customers receive a discounted price and priority access to the first production runs.
Can I cancel my preorder?
Yes. You can cancel your preorder before it ships for a full refund.
SHIPPING
Where do you ship from?
ONTO is made in the USA and ships from our fulfillment facility in Phoenix, AZ. Orders are processed and delivered as quickly as possible once inventory is ready.
How long does handling take?
Processing time for your order is around 2–4 business days.
How long does shipping take?
After dispatch, delivery typically takes 3–7 business days depending on your location within the United States.
Will I receive tracking?
Yes. You’ll receive a tracking link as soon as your order ships.
Do you ship internationally?
No. At this time, ONTO is only available for shipping within the United States.
