Will my mattress slide around?

In most cases, no. The combined weight of your mattress and body creates enough friction to keep everything in place. If you do notice any movement, placing a thin non-slip mat or cut-to-size rug pad between the mattress and the panels will take care of it.

Are variations in the wood grain and color of my panels normal?

Yes — this is part of what makes white oak special. Every panel is finished with real wood veneer, which means each one carries the natural character of the tree it came from: slight shifts in tone, texture, and grain are expected and intentional. No two foundations will look exactly identical, and we think that's a good thing.

Is the Foundation compatible with both a mattress and a Japanese futon?

Yes. The Foundation is designed to work with both a standard mattress and a Japanese futon (shikibuton). For futon use, the firm, low-profile base replicates the traditional floor-level feel while keeping your futon elevated for airflow and longevity. We'd recommend a futon at least 3" thick for the best experience.
